Will Tommy Jones is a trio from rural north Texas. Lead vocalist|songwriter|keyboardist, Gary Joe Mitchell was born and raised in Olney, Texas where he studied classical piano from age 9 until high school graduation. Upon graduation, he moved to Denton, Texas, enrolled in the music program at The University of North Texas, and became an active part of the local music scene, performing at night clubs & festivals around Denton & the Dallas metro area. His band, "Springcreek", soon became an opening act for artists such as Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, B W Stevenson, Rusty Weir, Emmy Lou Harris, Steven Fromholz, & Ray Wylie Hubbard, to name a few. He left the university, hooked up w/ longtime friend & drummer, Mark Anderson and spent the next 20+ years on the road playing road houses across the U.S., Canada & Mexico. Burned out from motel rooms, the club scene & substance abuse, Gary called it quits in 2009. He and Mark moved to a remote area of north Texas, began collaborating and had written 200+ songs by 2012. The 2 of them put together a new band, "WILL TOMMY JONES". The genre, "HICK-ROCK". Much to their surprise, they received a call from an A&R rep from a mainstream label and on June 20th, 2012, signed a record deal. Their debut album, "WILL TOMMY JONES" by Will Tommy Jones, released on the TMG label on August 13th 2013. In September 2014, they hired lead guitarist, Chris Tucker from Denton, Texas. Both Mark & Gary had jammed w/ this guy off and on from the time he was 14 until he turned 18 & then they lost touch for the next 10 years. He was the best fit for the band but they could not seem to locate him. After months of searching, out of the clear blue, they received an email from Chris. He was totally unaware of the situation and the rest is history. Gary, Mark & Chris finally found their way back home. Will Tommy Jones is now in the midst of production on their 2nd album, "CALLING ON ALL NATIONS" @ Dang! Studios in Dallas, Texas w/ a Summer 2015 release date in the planning.
