Matt Manning is a driven, passionate and talented artist boasting an eclectic background and an exciting story that brought him (and his music) around the world. Born in Cork, Ireland, Matt eventually relocated to El Cajon, California, bringing his passion for blues / rock overseas; but not before sharing the stage with Jim McCann (formerly of The Dubliners) and other talented Irish folk rockers. Following a brief hiatus from the music business, Matt came back to the scene performing, creating music and producing art with many talented musicians in many different places; from his native Ireland, to England and the United States, not to mention his many experiences as a touring artist. bio3 Currently, Matt sports production, songwriting and performing credits on a remarkable list of releases, including working on the arrangements for albums by other artists and collaborating with renowned performers the likes of Jackson Browne, Kieran Kane and Bruce Hornsby, just to name a few. Winner of the I.M.R.O national song contest 1995.One of Matts compositions was used in an off-broadway play entitled “Citizen Mendez”. It also then went on a successful national tour of USA.
Matt produced and arranged an album in 1997 entitled “Pieces of the Past” for baseball coach Tim Flannern. With guest artists including,
Jackson Browne, Bruce Hornsby, Kieran Kane (formally of The ‘O’Kanes’) Kieran is also a successful Nashville songwriter, performer.
Daryl Johnson (Spyboy and Daniel Lanois right hand man) Steve Poltz, songwriter (had national co/write hit with Jewel) Larry Dent, exeptional drummer and top west coast session man. Dennis Caplinger, top bluegrass session player. Dennis played on the last album J.J. Cale produced, this was for Eric Clapton and entitled, The Road To Escondido.
Matts own album entitled ‘Waltzing an Angel’ released in 1996 on the Round Tower Label, owned by Clive Hudson (former MD of Warner Bros Ireland).
The title track of this album ‘Waltzing an Angel’ was a massive radio hit in Ireland and is now regarded as a classic. One station said it was the most requested song in the Stations history. This song has been recorded by many artists in Europe and the U.S.A.
