The Mighty Men of Faith began their gospel music debut when they performed for a Men's Day celebration at University AMEZ Church, Palo Alto, CA in April 2009. At that time the members of the group were Wendell Basey, Rev. Ed Harris, William “Pedie” Carswell, and Malvin Scott. Their intent was to only perform for that one occasion but the divine anointing of that experience inspired them to travel and perform throughout Northern California and beyond, ultimately producing their first contemporary gospel CD entitled “Because He loves me”. The music of the Mighty Men of Faith is a blend of traditional and contemporary gospel music. The Mighty Men of Faith are committed to singing gospel music of praise and worship that will evoke spiritual fervor, change lives, and have lasting spiritual effect.
The Mighty Men of Faith released two new singles in 2011. The first is “Falling in Love Again” a song that about losing ones way and finding love of the lord again. The second is a cover of song written by Luther Barnes called “Its a Good Thing To Be Chosen”. There are two version of Its a good thing…one an album version and the other a radio version. The Mighty Men of Faith released a new album titled Mighty Men of Faith “Shaking the Foundation Live at the Cubberley Theater” in May 2012. The Joyful Sounds and exuberant audience is just one of the highlights of this live CD. The sound of the Mighty Men of Faith is Uniquely their own. Fans who listen to the music of the Mighty Men of Faith also listen to Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond, Cece Winans, Marvin Sapp, Bryon Cage, and Smokie Norful.
The Mighty Men of Faith lost one of its original members Malvin Scott on January 4, 2013 when he traded time for eternity. He sang lead to the songs “Are You Thirsty”, “Because He Loves Me”, and I Feel Satisfied on the CD titled “Because He Loves Me”. His smooth silky anointed voice will be deeply missed. Charles Johnson has been added to the group along with Richard Hayes who join Wendell Basey and Rev. Ed. Harris as members of the Group. On November the 26th the group release a new single “Father These Things I Pray. This song of worship and meditation reminds of the need for connection with God for direction, wisdom, and strength. On August 5, 2014 they released a new album "Nothing But Grace". The 12 songs in "Nothing But Grace" speaks of God's Love, Sacrifice and Mercy. The CD's traditional and contemporary music's message is peppered with a modern urban soul flavor that will be appealing to hours of listening pleasure.” The song “Run and Go Tell It” has charted number 25 in the Gospel Synergy Magazine and number 5 on the top 30 Chart of the Gospel USA Magazine.
The Mighty Men of Faith have been nominated for the 2015 Rhythm of Gospel Award in five Categories. The Categories are: 1. Special Event CD Of The Year – “Nothing But Grace” 2. Quartet CD of the Year –“Nothing But Grace” 3. Alternative Christian Gospel CD of The Year –“Nothing But Grace” 4. Contemporary Group/Ensemble Of The Year, and 5. Best Performance by Duo/Group Of The Year. The Rhythm of Gospel Awards televised show will recognize the nominees and winners on July 25th 2015 at the Alys Robinson Stephens Performing Arts Center on the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The Televised Award Show according to the National and Independent Gospel Music Association is officially recognized as the largest National Independent Gospel Awards Show in the nation with over 6500 attendees from various parts of the United States, Bahamas, Canada and internationally. The Mighty Men of Faith will be one of the Headliners on the televised award show.
On October 25, 2014 the group traveled to Nashville Tenn, to tape a performance that aired on the Impact Television Network show "Bobby Jones Presents".
