Born Calvin Eugene Kennon Jr. in Sacremento, California on September 12th, 1987, 50 Cow grew up being called "Junior" by his mother who raised him by herself and worked multiple jobs. ( in order to support their household of six all sharing a one studio apartment).
He grew up attending church regularly, which is where he began his involvement with music by learning how to play the drums and piano at the age of 5. In his early adolescence he started making his own beats with various beats programs such as ProTools, FL Studios, Triton or Motif and began to record himself free styling to these beats with a karaoke music box his aunt in Washington sent him for Christmas. Cow moved out of the Bay Area to Tacoma, Washington in 2000 and began influencing Seattle listeners with his music. He graduated from Henry Foss High School and continued to pursue his interest in music by attending Bates Technical College. In 2008, he completed the courses in "Audio Production" and earned his Associate in Arts degree.
In 2012 The remake of K-Stylis' "Kangaroo Booty" and a 50 Cow original single, "Beat the Breaks Off" was released on iTunes. Untapped Muzic writes,"when you see the name, '50 Cow', envision complex concepts, long defined lyrics, and passion for real music. We are talking about a brilliant young artist". Untapped describes Cow as, "always working on new concepts and looking to better his craft, 50 Cow is a studio junky".
50 Cow is currently working on his first and up coming album called, "Maximum" planned to be released July 2014. This album will reflect how his music cannot be categorized into one particular genre but can influence a combination of old school and new school love for music. When asked about the message behind "Maximum" Cow states, "Life is about creating something beautiful with the mind and there is no wrong way to do what you love, make the best of life by having fun with your passion and work hard to accomplish your goals".
In his new song, "Get Money" Cow states, "You gotta ball hard, if you really wanna win/work real hard don't never call in", in efforts to show that life is about living to the Maximum!
