The first album review by Mr Fudge
Lykquydyzer : Surface of Reality
Welcome to the world of one man and a computer. Everybody can have a go at it. So you do have to dig through a great steaming pile to find the gem, happy to see that this is one of the latter. I know the artist well so know his music tastes and he has stuck to the electronic dance side of his world. Starting with a track entitled E.B.M., you know what to expect, more Front 242 than VNV Nation. Tracks 2 and 3 pick up the pace a little, adding more of that industrial infusion that we love so well, I could see a rather slimmer me making glow stick shapes to these two. Track 4 says sit down and enjoy the view, it’s got an Orbish quality, Little Fluffy Clouds springs to mind. Track 5 and 6, are essays in the electro dance feels of base and more surprising funk. Both stand up and have my head bobbing. Tracks 7 and 8 are taking you back onto the dance floor with track 8 ''Electro (bass is pumping)'' really standing out, having what the artist does best and that’s the anticipation into the madness.
''Not everything goes'' track 9 is a fantastic hodgepodge of Tech noise and Pop Will Eat Itself in their pomp. Throw in a vocal sample that would grace a Massive Attack tune and you have got me grinning .... I had to stop typing to listen to it again LOUD. This is club land mighty madness.
'' Voodooglitch'' has a toe in early Prodigy, that is no bad thing though it needs another layer to really make it pop. In the home strait now and we take a trip on the Orbital train, it sits well as a builder into the final and best track ''Feel the noise'' which would make an arthritic statue get up and big fish, little fish, cardboard box it for all its worth. It is a track that should be heard at 1am in a full Balearic nightclub, loud as hell and has already generated some radio play.
For one person to allow his creativity to run down so many different paths while keeping the quality so high and coherent is the highest praise I can give it. If you enjoy the dance side of life then buy it you won’t be disappointed.
I believe it is available on Ebay for 4 quid, worth every penny. Cheers, Mark Fudge Goodyer
