Chosen for a special honor by NASA in 2011! The only Spanish band EVER to play Woodstock (1999)! On stage with Slash (1992) and Springsteen (2006)! And yet they simply claim to be “A folk-rock band from Spain's rainy northern coast.” Who are these guys?
Stormy Mondays got their start in Oviedo, Asturias, Spain, in 1991. Their first shows were on the street, but since then they have played in venues large and small in the United States, Spain, and Italy. Their fans are from all over Europe and as far away as Africa, China, Mexico, and South America. Their 14th and latest recording is a two-disc set entitled “Wading the River / The Lay of the Land” (2015). They sing original songs in Spanish, English, and Asturian—the native language of their homeland, which is now in danger of being forgotten.
