Hari Vasan is a singer-songwriter who was raised in the Washington, DC area. In 2007, Hari posted two videos of himself performing covers on YouTube, and each reached 18,000 and 11,000 views, respectively. He has been a featured artist at Bloombars Open Mic in DC and at Ireland's Four Courts Open Mic in Arlington, VA. In 2014, he was one of the featured performers at "Be(com)ing Desi in America," a show that was jointly arranged by the Beyond Bollywood Exhibit at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum and Subcontinental Drift. In the event, he opened up for comedian Aparna Nancherla and Ashok Kondabalu of Das Racist. He later was selected to play at "Music on the Mall" by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. In 2014, he was selected to perform at the Takoma Park Folk Festival, a folk festival in Takoma Park, MD and Art all Night, an event that showcases artists and musicians from the DC area. In March 2016, he performed at the Intersections Festival in DC. He has currently finished his first studio EP, which will feature five tracks of original work and will be coming out April 19.
